National Forum «Sustainable Development through Innovation and Digitalization: e-government and e-commerce»
September 20, 2024
Hyatt Regency Hotel
Dushanbe, Tajikistan
The National Forum on Sustainable Development through Innovation and Digitalization, including e-government and e-commerce aims to create a multi-stakeholder environment for brainstorming digital governance policy issues in various economic and social sectors of the country. The Forum will discuss e-government issues, including public e-services, digital management in government, digital economy and e-commerce challenges, cybersecurity and development of critical telecommunications infrastructure, digital literacy and access to the Internet, as well as global and national digital transformation management practices. This forum brings together experts from different fields to discuss and take action on key digital government processes, such as
- Assessing the status quo of e-government and e-commerce and their impact on socio-political and economic changes in the country;
- Defining the relationship and balanced role of the state in e-government and digital entrepreneurship;
- Defining recommendations for the sustainable digital development of the country to achieve the national strategic goals.
The Internet and other digital information and communication technologies, on which new and innovative services are created and made available, are increasingly contributing to the country’s economic development. New digital initiatives, such as e-government, open data, and biometric identification, are the results of the broad use of ICT in government and ensure the inclusiveness of public relations with society and citizens. Multilateral cooperation, especially between the state and the private sector, provides equal access to rural areas, especially in remote areas.
As the number of digital technology users increases, the Internet becomes a reflection of social processes and, at the same time, an extension of their boundless scope, as well as an indicator and determinant of the development space. In such circumstances, the development of national content, growth of digital public services, digital commerce, ensuring the security of critical information infrastructure, digital health, and cybersecurity, protecting the status and rights of citizens through the biometric data processing and government decisions are considered factors for the development of digital governance in the country. The Forum will help to assess these factors and reveal issues in the digital transition.
These tasks require multilateral cooperation of the government, business community, civil society, and international organizations. A good and successful example of such cooperation can be the increasing efforts of the parties to develop digital literacy, digital public services, and the growth of digital business, which are among the initial steps in this direction.
At the National Forum on e-Government and Digital Commerce, plenary and sectoral sessions will discuss the following topics:
